Citrus Canker

21 May 2023

Ink painting/drawing of Citrus canker, caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas (X. axonopodis or X. campestris)

The painting shows an orange branch, with seven leaves, two twigs and one underripe green orange. There are brown warty lesions, on the leaves and fruit, each surrounded by a yellow chlorotic halo.

This painting is paired with Citrus Leprosis, a viral lesion disease.

The picture shows a montage of four photographs, taken at different stages of painting the Citrus Leprosis composition.

1) I used a pale yellow hue to depict the shape and layout of the leaves, twigs, and fruit.

2) I added brown lesions

3) I applied a layer of green to represent the leaves, twigs, and fruit, while leaving some areas in pale yellow to show chlorotic regions where necessary.

4) Finally, I outlined the key elements such as (leaves, stems and fruit) in black.
