Ramularia vs Cercospora

Left: Cercospora Leaf Spot from 13 Nov 2022

Right: Ramularia Leaf Spot from 06 Nov 2022

I really like the pairing of the beet leaf shapes, and their matching angles across the page. They are similar enough to be easily comparable, whilst still looking like individual leaves. I am also really pleased with how the comparison highlights the difference in the size and appearance of the lesions.

Cercospora: The painting shows a single sugar beet leaf covered in small round light grey-brown lesions 2-5mm in size. Each lesion has a dark brown ring at its outer border. In some areas the lesions have fused into necrotic patches.

Ramularia: The painting shows a single sugar beet leaf covered in round light grey-brown lesions. Each lesion has a dark brown ring at its outer border, and is surrounded by a pale yellow, chlorotic halo. In some areas the lesions have coalesced, but their darker margins can still be seen.
